From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
